There were 4 indigenous Senators, two of whom occupied seats reserved for indigenous persons, and 2 indigenous members of the House of Representatives. There were no indigenous cabinet members and no indigenous persons on any of the nation's high courts. There was 1 Afro-Colombian Senator and there were 3 Afro-Colombian members of the House of Representatives. IEW Events > United States The week opens with a kick-off in the College Center including greetings from the college president and several international students in their home languages, and a music presentation provided by Del Sur Music. There will be a one-hour program of world music daily by the campus radio station. The cafeteria will serve international cuisine during the week, including dishes from Mexico, Italy, India and China. The Transfer Department will host a combined college recruitment and study abroad fair. The Triton College Student Association will sponsor an international film festival. Several faculty have opened their classes to visitors from foreign consulates in Chicago. The Undergraduate Center will present their undergraduate study travel opportunities. IEW Events > The Americas The Washington, D.C.-based music ensemble "Hesperus" completed a three-city tour of Bolivia with a performance to commemorate IEW. The event was co-sponsored by the Bolivian Alumni Association and included former international visitors and Fulbrighters - some current officials and elected representatives in the government - as invited guests of honor. The group performed lively American colonial and folk music pieces that required 30 different instruments. The La Paz performance also served as a platform for the recently re-organized Fulbright Alumni Association to publicly recognize their members and contributions to the country. In the past couple of years there has been much discussion about the possibility of the country becoming a republic and leaving the Commonwealth. Under the current constitution, Barbados is a Westminster‑style parliamentary democracy. The Queen of England, Barbados’ titular head of state, appoints a Governor General as her representative in Barbados. The bicameral Parliament, consisting of an appointed Senate and an elected House of Assembly, is supreme. Events and Activites, International Education Week 2001 University of Buffalo's Office of International Education will provide a week long series of events, presentations, and lectures on a variety of topics divided into theme days Study Abroad Day, Peace Corps Day, and Fulbright Scholar Day with panel discussions and presentations by faculty, staff, and program alumni. Student clubs and organizations will also contribute activities such as a percussion performance by the Korean Students Folk Art Club and Bulgarian Art Night sponsored by the Bulgarian Graduate Student Association. US Department Of State Post Report The Curaçao Golf and Squash Club has the island's only golf course. It has nine holes with oiled sand greens. The club sponsors weekend tournaments and has a small clubhouse where refreshments are served. A squash court is located near clubhouse. ... The Consulate General and the Consul General's residence, known as "Roosevelt House", are located on the same compound, in separate buildings.
