• Reconstruction gained momentum in the Nissan District of Eastern Baghdad, where major sewer and water projects broke ground in Kamaliya and Oubaidi. After completing a site survey, workers began on the project that will ultimately create a sewer network serving 8,870 homes in Kamaliya. The area has never had underground sewage lines and relies on slit trenches, which leads to sewage pooling in the streets. 1 1 10/24/04 1 1 CA-9, near Palín: At approximately 8:30 a.m., one foreigner and three Guatemalan family members were traveling south from Guatemala City to Escuintala, when they stopped their vehicle at the side of the road. Five men on foot rapidly approached their car, several of the men carrying weapons similar to those issued to the local police. After firing a threatening shot, the assailants order the family to walk to the woods, away from the highway. A foreigner and a national were ordered away from the group and were raped.
