Maritime Interdiction. Cooperation between the Mexican Navy, the PGR, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Department of Defense resulted in three multi-ton maritime drug seizures. In June, the seizure of the Mexican flag vessel "Mazatlan IV" netted seven metric tons of cocaine. In August, the Mexican flag vessel "Xoloescuintle" was pursued by the U.S. Coast Guard and seized by the Mexican Navy in international waters; 9.5 metric tons of cocaine were found aboard, the second largest maritime cocaine seizure on record.
