Beginning April 25, 2005, the Consular Section of the U.S. Liaison Office in Tripoli, Libya, no longer operates out of the Belgian Embassy. The Liaison Office is currently in the process of re-locating the Consular Section. During this time public office hours will be suspended. However, American residents in and visitors to Libya needing emergency assistance may contact consular personnel by telephone (091-2200 1250) and email consulartripoli@yahoo.com). Americans without Internet access may register directly with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
