Helping The Tsunami Victims By President George W. Bush - "Gaborone Botswana"

The U.S. government has made an initial commitment of $350 million for disaster relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction for victims of the tsunami. I have also sent members of America's armed forces to the region to support the relief efforts. United States Air Force planes are distributing aid 24 hours a day. The United States Navy has deployed the Abraham Lincoln carrier group to Indonesia with relief supplies and additional aircraft that will help reach those victims in desperate need in isolated areas. In Botswana, tuberculosis accounts for most deaths among people living with HIV/AIDS. This is because most people, including those without HIV, never know that they have the TB germ because they are not sick. They have what is called latent TB. This is TB acquired during daily interactions with people sick from TB. As they cough, sneeze, laugh or sing these people can release TB germs into the air, which is then breathed by those around them. Once they breathe in the air, they acquire latent TB, which will remain in their bodies until their immune system is compromised.
