The National Museum, occupying a former fortress near the Legislative Assembly, has an excellent collection of pre-Columbian artifacts and a national history collection. The Coin Museum is located in the same building. The Jade Museum, located in the National Insurance Institute, features one of the world’s foremost collections of pre-Columbian jade pieces.
