Popular spectator sports include international soccer at the Dynamo or Central Republic Stadium. At the Sports Palace you can see wrestling, boxing, ice hockey, and ice-skating. There are various sports clubs offering a wide variety of personal workout regimes, but clubs with Western equivalent facilities are very expensive. The Marine Security Guard Detachment hosts softball in the summer and fall months. Other small groups play volleyball, little league and basketball at the International School gymnasium. During the summer months, the post community plays volleyball and sails at the nearby Hydro Park; river cruises along the Dnipro are also very popular. The Kiev area also has excellent opportunities for jogging, cycling, hiking and cross-country skiing.Downhill skiing is possible during the winter months in the Carpathian Mountains in western Ukraine.  Several ski trips are organized throughout the season.B ... In early August 2003, 311 Muskie/FSA Graduate Fellows gathered in Washington DC to mark the beginning of an academic adventure that take them to 88 universities, throughout 38 states. The three-day program began with a full day of interactive and exciting teambuilding activities developed and coordinated by Team Concepts. The Muskie Fellows created team banners that included team names, mottos and goals for the day. They also engaged in a round robin of events, competing in everything from "Bubble Broom Hockey" to the "Rope Walk" to "Search and Rescue." The day was topped off with a medal ceremony in which each Fellow received a Muskie medal. This year's keynote address: "U.S. Engagement in Eurasia," was delivered by Ambassador Steven Pifer, Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs. Soccer and ice hockey are the two most popular spectator sports.  Dinamo Stadium, a 55,000-seat stadium in downtown Minsk, is home to the countrys top soccer club, Dinamo Minsk.
