There are numerous excellent schools away from post in both Europe and the U.S.  A few families send their children to boarding school or home-school their children. The compound is separated into two levels.  The main buildings are all at the top of a bluff, offering spectacular views of Mt. Ararat.  The lower level, about 12 acres on the lakeshore, will be used primarily as a recreation and community area.  A number of recreation facilities are planned. ...

Entertainment facilities in Kabul are limited.  The Embassy Recreation Hooch has videos and CDs, along with a library of donated books.  The CAFÉ Recreation Hooch sports a billiards table, big screen TV, and kitchenette for social gatherings.  Staff members organize impromptu social events, such as Karokee Night, parties for the holidays and barbeques.  Campfires at night are common on both compounds. ...
