In September, IATP hosted a Web chat with Georgian Olympic Champions Zurab Zviadauri and Giorgi Asanidze, which was covered by two Georgian television stations. Zviadauri won the men's 90-kilogram judo competition this year in Athens. Giorgi Asanidze, who is currently running for Parliament, won Georgia's second Olympic gold medal in the men's 85-kilogram weightlifting competition. Over 40 people from Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Poti, Zugdidi, Gori, Telavi, Khashuri, and Rustavi participated in the session at their local IATP access sites. The virtual meeting/chat will be hosted for undergraduate students of Karaganda, Kazakhstan and Wilmington, Delaware (Goldey-Beacom College.) During the chat session students will discuss education system in both countries, its differences, advantages and disadvantages, student life, issues students that students face, culture and many other aspects. Reports, International Education Week 2001

In celebration of International Education Week, the IATP center at Samara State University welcomed students from local schools on November 15 to participate in an online forum with schoolchildren located in Baku, Azerbaijan. The online event was held live and had 330 messages posted during 5 hours of discussion. Anastasia Ekkert, IATP Regional Coordinator for the Urals and FLEX alumna, facilitated the event during which participants responded to numerous questions including: what is the role of a principal, what are the most important subjects to study, what should the role of the Internet be in education.
