With regard to the strategic cooperation of the Salzburg Group, which we formed with the Interior Ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia, we want to push the question of a "European police force" (words in quotation marks spoken in English), the so-called Euro cops that may be deployed speedily, anywhere in Europe, and even outside the European Union, should it be necessary for the police to become active there. We want to push the implementation of the Solana Paper. We plan to push the West Balkan Strategy in accordance with our American friends in Europe. We will intensify the training workshops for air marshals, and we welcome the cooperation with our American colleagues with regard to combating drug trade in the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, which are significant for transit to Austria. ... Mr.  Pachios is serving his fourth term on the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy.  President Bill Clinton originally appointed him to the Commission in 1993.  He served as the Commission's chairman from 1999 to 2003.  On May 8, 2003 Secretary of State Colin L. Powell officiated his term designated by President George W. Bush.   Mr. Pachios is a partner in the Portland law firm of Preti, Flaherty, Beliveau, Pachios & Haley.  His prior government service includes three years as deputy congressional liaison for the Peace Corps during that agency's earliest years (1961-1964).  In 1965, President Johnson appointed him associate White House press secretary where he served as principal aide to Press Secretary Bill Moyers. The International Herald Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today are sold at newstands and hotels throughout Vienna's First District, usually the same day they are published.  Subscriptions to them, as well as Time, Newsweek, and the Stars and Stripes, are available for timely delivery to the Embassy or to employees' homes. Six general circulation daily German-language newspapers are published in Vienna.  Three, Der Standard, Kurier and Die Presse, offer serious coverage of international and local news, as does the Salzburger Nachricten, published in Salzburg but widely available in Vienna.  Other European newspapers are available at local newsstands, as are some popular American magazines.  Imported publications are expensive.             ...
