Sports clubs and health clubs in Caracas are numerous, excellent, fully equipped and provide a wide range of facilities. There is a very good gym close to the Embassy that has an outdoor track, many aerobic and other classes (tae bo, baile, stretching), and an Olympic-sized pool where swimming classes are offered for children. Most sports clubs are also very expensive. A list of clubs is available upon request and is included in the Welcome Kit. There are no public golf courses in Venezuela, and golf is therefore a very expensive activity. There are numerous golf courses in the Czech Republic. Golf Club Praha has a small, but challenging, 9-hole course in the Motol area of Prague. There are excellent golf facilities near the town of Karlstejn, about 30 minutes from Prague and Konopiste, about 45 minutes from Prague. Farther afield, there are first-class 18-hole courses at Marianske Lazne and Karlovy Vary, both of which are about two hours from Prague. In order to golf in the Czech Republic, you will need a handicap card (called a ‘'green card’). Four private clubs have swimming pools and tennis courts and Embassy families regularly join as members. Tennis lessons are also available. In addition, a private golf club with an 18-hole golf course (2 x 9 holes, with 2 tee boxes on each hole, with 12 greens) is located in south Paramaribo. The course is low and flat and subject to flooding during the rainy season. The course is not too challenging, offering enjoyment for advanced golfers and duffers alike.
