The Embassy's property program supplies residences with furnishings and appliances in good condition and implementing an updated replacement cycle. Rugs, curtains or draperies, and air-conditioners are furnished for all residences. All master suites have a queen-sized bed, while other bedrooms are furnished with twin-sized beds. Most dining tables expand to seat 12. Incoming personnel are routinely provided an Embassy "Hospitality Kit" until their effects arrive. The Hospitality Kit contains dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, eating utensils, an iron and ironing board, and a supply of linens adequate for all beds in the house. The Consul General's residence, Roosevelt House, has split-unit room air conditioning in its four bedrooms, living room, dining room and library. Other rooms include the vestibule, main hall, gallery, three bathrooms (two with showers only; one with bathtub and shower), powder room, laundry room, kitchen, pantry, and two servants rooms with adjoining shower and bathroom. This last Thanksgiving was the smallest on record. We gathered, for the first time in memory, not at a massive folding table in the porch, but around the regular dining room table at my parent's home.
