There is currently an outbreak of Marburg hemorrhagic fever, a severe and often fatal disease, in Uige province, Angola.  The Department of State, therefore, advises against travel to Uige province.  The Angolan Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Centers for Disease Control-Atlanta (CDC) continue to work to identify and publicize recommended health measures and treatments, and to develop strategies, which will ensure that this outbreak remains contained.  Americans visiting or resident in Angola are advised to monitor public health announcements from the Ministry of Health and the WHO, and to follow their public health guidelines and recommendations.  More information on the Marburg virus may be obtained at http://www.who.int/csr/disease/marburg/en/ and at the ...
