Africa and the Middle East Domestic Programs. Jordan maintains a robust program of awareness and education, interdiction, and rehabilitation. Education programs predominantly target high school and college-aged kids. Authorities continue to provide educational presentations in schools and universities throughout the country. Jordan also publishes a number of brochures and other materials aimed at educating Jordan’s youth. Cartoons aimed at younger children designed to dissuade youngsters from trying drugs are also in the developmental stages, with an expected release timeframe of 2005. Zambia (07/05) A country agreement inviting the Peace Corps to work in Zambia was signed by the United States and Zambia on September 14, 1993. The first group of volunteers was sworn in on April 7, 1994. In 2005, the Peace Corps program in Zambia continues to increase understanding between Zambians and Americans. More than 140 volunteers are promoting sustainable development through their activities in agricultural and natural resource management, health and sanitation, education, and humanitarian assistance. Volunteers are working in eight of Zambia's nine provinces building local capacity to manage family fish farms, to manage and preserve wildlife resources, to implement health reforms at the village level, to introduce interactive radio instruction for primary school children, and to extend HIV/AIDS education efforts. K) Africa and the Middle East Demand Reduction. The NCB works with schools, professional training institutions, churches, local governments, and the general public. A draft Drug Education Policy is now before the government for use in all schools. The NCB continues its work with Drug Free Clubs in secondary schools throughout the country, and with the Ghana Education Service and its counseling and welfare units to oversee drug education efforts. The Ministries of Health and Education further coordinate their efforts through their representatives on the Board. The NCB also worked with numerous church groups during the year with its Sensitization Program. It has now conducted drug education programs with 106 of the country’s 110 districts assemblies, and with such entities as the Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Training and the Regional Maritime Academy.
