The Embassy has two boats with outboard motors available for rental. The Mussulo Peninsula has nice beaches off the main coast, just a short boat ride from the city. Several pristine and uncrowded beaches further south are accessible by road. Sport fishing is also popular, and the waters just off the coast have an abundant supply of many types of game fish. Anthropology and natural history museums are found downtown. There is a historic fort overlooking the bay. Most recent warden messages for American citizens

As of April 7, 2005, there are four confirmed deaths from Marburg hemorrhagic fever in Luanda. All individuals became ill in Uige province and traveled to Luanda for treatment. There are no reports of people contracting the disease in Luanda, as well as there are no active cases now reported in this city. There is one confirmed case and death in Cabinda province, also of an individual who traveled from Uige province, and one case in Kwanza Norte province. There are five confirmed cases in Malange province, which borders Uige province. In Uige province, the cases were reported outside Uige city, in Songo, Damba, Negage, Puri and Maquela do Zombo. EMBASSY LATEST WARDEN MESSAGE ON THE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER IN UIGE PROVINCE, ANGOLA

One offshoot has been the development of a Sister City relationship between Lafayette, Louisiana and Cabinda and between Houston, Texas and Luanda.
