US Department Of State Post Report The Embassy Health Unit is currently staffed by a Foreign Service health practitioner (physician assistant or nurse practitioner), two part-time contract nurses, and a secretary. The Health Unit is small but well equipped and includes a small pharmacy. The staff provides health consultations, immunizations, health education, and treatment of various illnesses/minor injuries. More complicated cases are referred to local consultants or doctors in South Africa. Regional support is provided out of Pretoria, one hour by plane. Pretoria is the MEDEVAC center for Africa.
