South Asia The United States supports Afghanistan’s effort to develop as a nation that respects human rights and conducts free and fair parliamentary elections as outlined under its new Constitution. The U.S. Embassy in Kabul focused on strengthening the reach of the central Government to provide the basis for the rule of law through its Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration programs through training and capacity building of the national police, judiciary and numerous other ministries.
