Geringer Update
Signed an historic data-sharing agreement with the BLM. The pact will allow resource management information from the State and the BLM to be used by all state and federal agencies. Upon signing the agreement, the governor received a resource data tape with over $2.5 million of research. The cooperative effort means officials can use information gathered by other agencies rather than spending the time and effort to conduct research themselves. Said Geringer, "It’s not only a resource base, it’s also a people resource. It has potential for more than just locating a gas well; it includes residences, utilities... and other information such as where to market a new product. It will have some very practical applications."
