Prevention Research: University of Virginia
Over the course of the study, IQ Health will introduce service enhancements in a controlled fashion into the UVA environment. These enhancements include pre-employment and for-cause drug testing, manager training, higher participation in the Health Risk Appraisal screening and outreach to primary care physicians. The prospective component of the study will provide a rigorous evaluation of the impact of these enhancements in identification of substance use problems, utilization of IQ Health services, Workplace performance, manager/employee satisfaction and medical utilization. The effect of these enhancements will be assessed through annual surveys of a stratified random sample of UVA employees and through interviews and focus groups with a smaller sample of employees. Measured outcomes include Workplace performance and satisfaction indicators, medical utilization, satisfaction with services, attitudes towards substance abuse, self-reported health, and mental health. Lisa Collis, First Lady of Virginia, was born in Pensacola, Florida. She grew up in a Navy family and lived in seven states before settling in Falls Church, Virginia. Ms. Collis attended George C. Marshall High School, earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Virginia and received her Masters degree in Public Health at the University of Texas.
