Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code
The Board of Housing and Community Development adopts and amends the USBC.  The Board bases the technical requirements of the USBC on nationally accepted model codes and standards and makes as few amendments as possible.  The Board encourages anyone who believes that a technical amendment is needed to submit their proposal directly to the International Code Council . Riparian Buffer Tax Credit: Code of Virginia
C. The tax credit shall be an amount equal to twenty-five percent of the value of timber in that portion of the land retained as a buffer. The amount of such credit shall not exceed $17,500 or the total amount of the tax imposed by this chapter, whichever is less, in the year that the timber outside the buffer was harvested. If the amount of the credit exceeds the taxpayer's liability for such taxable year, the excess may be carried over for credit against income taxes in the next five taxable years until the total amount of the tax credit has been taken.
