DIR - Texas Geographic Information Council - eNews STATEMAP, established by the National Geologic Mapping Act (1992), is a Federal program that provides matching money for geologic mapping by state geological surveys. For approved projects, every non- Federal dollar is matched by a Federal dollar, 1:1. Mapping projects are proposed by the Texas geological survey, the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG), on the basis of the guidance of a review panel that represents the Texas agencies that administer the public lands, natural resources, and environmental concerns of the state. The major constraint is the requirement for non-Federal matching money. The BEG is primarily a soft-money applied research group at The University of Texas at Austin that has a very small State appropriation. We need your help in identifying sources of matching funds. The majority of the matching funds must come from other agencies or other sources, either through a project that is directly related to the proposed mapping or by direct funding for the mapping. ...
