The primary function of the Texas Department of Health (TDH) Environmental Lead Program is to protect the public, especially young children, from exposure to lead in their environment. Our goal, through informational programs, regulatory means, and home assessments, is to enhance the public's awareness of lead hazards, and to minimize lead poisoning. Informational assistance includes (1) answering questions regarding lead certification and accreditation; (2) answering questions concerning lead abatement; (3) conducting public seminars and meetings; and (4) providing lead information.
