Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County - General Hospital Over the years, many things changed. Like the community we serve, the hospital grew in size to our current 150-bed facility. The name also went through several variations, though our nickname of "The General" remains. In 1999 we literally moved from the original hospital building on Hermitage Avenue to the renovated George W. Hubbard Hospital on the Meharry Medical College campus. The relocation is reflected in our current name. Our mission, however, retains the roots of our founders. Like them, we are committed to providing excellent health care regardless of age, race, creed, gender, sexual preference or ability to pay. Our goal is 100% access to health care and zero disparity between populations. Please use our website to learn more about your ... [Read More]
