South Dakota Arts Council
On the state level, Premack was a consistent leader of the Governor-appointed South Dakota Arts Council for 18 years, retiring in 2004. She advocated for the arts throughout five administrations and with dozens of legislators, championing the Council through both good and difficult times. She served as council chair from 1993-94. Prior to joining the State Arts Council, she served as the State Dance on Tour coordinator, helped organize South Dakotans for the Arts (president from 1980-82), and was part of the state’s Community Arts Network.
