US Attorney's Office-District of South Carolina
The United States Attorneys Office conducts the majority of the criminal prosecutions handled by the Department of Justice. We receive criminal referrals from federal investigative agencies, state and local investigative agencies, and occasionally from citizens. After careful consideration of each criminal matter, the U.S. Attorney decides the appropriateness of bringing criminal charges and, when deemed appropriate, initiates prosecution. We investigate and prosecute a wide range of criminal activities and now handle a more diverse workload than ever before. The goal of these committees is to improve cooperation and coordination among law enforcement groups, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the criminal justice system. The LECC program has become a cornerstone of joint federal, state and local law enforcement efforts. ... [Read More]

The lead agency of each task force is the United States Attorney's office. The law enforcement entities detailed to the program consist of local police officers, State prosecutors, and Federal agents who now work in cooperation rather than in competition. ... [Read More]
