Sumter Intermodal Transporation Center- The City of Sumter and the Santee Wateree Regional Transportion Authority continue to move forward with the development of a Transit Center in the heart of the Sumter Zone. This facility will improve access to employment and training opportunities in Sumter and throughout the Region (Columbia, Myrtle Beach, and Charleston). This facility will provide access to these larger employment centers for Zone residents.The Sumter Zone has completed a feasibility study and has begun work work on the Environmental Assessment of the site. Negotiations to acquire the property are also currently underway. This multi-family complex is made up of twenty (20) two bedroom unites and twenty (20) three bedroom units and is located in the South Zone in Sumter. The total development costs were just over $2.3 million and it was developed by the Santee Lynches CDC in partnership with Regency Development Corp. This project was funded through the State Housing Finance and Development Authority (HOME Program) and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program. Santee Lynches HOME Consortium, and Charleston Affordable Housing were also partners in this development. This project won the State Housing Authority's Creative Partnership Award.
