Dr. Anderson comes to DOE from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst with a strong background in the microbial ecology and bioremediation potential of anaerobic microorganisms found within contaminated aquifers. Specifically, Dr. Anderson’s research background centered on evaluating subsurface microbial processes including the in situ stimulation of sulfate and metal-reducing bacteria to immobilize or otherwise remove contaminant metals or organics from groundwater at the field scale. Dr. Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Virginia and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and a Doctorate in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
