According to Chilcutt, he is making plans to help establish the new Sumter Opera Company at Sumter's Historic Opera House at 21 North Main Street. The concept for the fledging opera company originated after Chilcutt attended a recent performance at the Opera House featuring vocalist Wygelia Palmer, Empowerment Specialist, City of Sumter, and two Russian instrumentalists. "I never realized that Sumter possessed such fantastic 'local' talent", stated Chilcutt.
