USIA, U.S. Society & Values, June 1998 - Dan Sullivan,"U.S. Theater in the Nineties" As a result, the serious theatergoer anywhere in the UnitedStates no longer feels cheated if a well-received play closes inNew York City before he or she can see it. Very likely, it willturn up one or two seasons later on the schedule of the localresident theater, in a production that quite often will equal andsometimes surpass the original. The same, no doubt, would be true ofthe actress performing the role this season in Providence, RhodeIsland, or Baltimore, Maryland, and next season in Washington,D.C., and elsewhere. ... [Read More]
