MARIO A. MANCIERI has been a fourth- and sixth-grade teacher in the Tiverton and Portsmouth school districts. He served as principal of the Howard Hathaway Elementary School, assistant principal of the Portsmouth Middle School, and, from 1974 to 1989, served as director of Administrative Services in the Portsmouth district. In 1989, he was selected to be superintendent of the Portsmouth schools, a position he held for ten years. During his tenure as superintendent, he served a chairman of the Vocational Coordinating Committee of the Newport Area Career and Technical Center, president of the Rhode Island Association of School Administrators, and chairman of the Roger Williams College Advisory Board for Elementary Education.
