DODGE HOUSE GALLERY Three of Each & Two and Two: Meredith Wildes Cornell & Terry Haffenreffer Shapiro Two Little Compton artists team up for an upcoming exhibition at the Providence Art Club. While Meredith Cornell, long time member of the Art Club, will include a recent body of work consisting of oil portraits and still lifes, Terry Haffenreffer Shapiro captures her surrounding East Bay landscape through oil painting and pastels. Cornell utilizes repetition throughout this group of work. Each subject whether a figure or floral scene, are presented in three different approaches. Cornell depicts the beauty of life through a confident expressive style and beautiful dept of color. Shapiro has interpreted this same technique of repetition in pairs rather than triplets. Her seascapes and landscapes not only illustrate the beauty of the familiar RI terrain but also record recent trips to Prince Edward Island in Canada. Providence Art Club, Maxwell Mays Gallery Richard Grosvenor & Richard Harrington: Sea, Sky and Land Richard Harrington of Barrington teams up with artist Richard Grosvenor of Newport for a dazzling exhibition of their most recent work. Harrington, a prolific monoprinter, will show his new series of monotypes. These widely collected prints depict an exploration of the landscape through use of vibrant colors, and a dramatic use of light and dark in each composition. Using variations on the theme of quiet and serene images of marshes and shorelines of Rhode Island and Cape Cod, Harrington successfully captures that distinctive mood and atmosphere characteristic of our beautiful coastline. Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor
The Blackstone Valley Paddle Club is open to everyone. For those folks who are interested in joining the club for a trip, but do not have their own boat, a limited number of canoes and kayaks are available for $10 a person for the Tuesday night trips. For more information about boat rentals, please contact the Great Canadian Canoe and Kayak Company at (508) 865-0010. Boat reservations may be made no more than 7 days in advance. Of course, you are free to bring your own boat on a trip anytime. The Paddle Club also offers three “Introduction to Paddling” training session for first time paddlers or those who just want to improve their skills. Meanwhile, at the Quonset Davisville Navy Yacht Club, three Coast Guard vessels loaded employers for demonstration rides. MDMA . The availability andabuse of MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), particularly among teenagersand young adults, poses an increasing threat to Rhode Island. MDMA, also knownas Adam, ecstasy, XTC, E, and X, is a stimulant and low-level hallucinogen. MDMAwas patented in 1914 in Germany where it was sometimes given to psychiatricpatients to assist in psychotherapy.
