Kerry has spent his career on the front lines of protecting the safety of the citizens of Oklahoman. Beginning his career as a state trooper with the Mangum detachment, Kerry has been with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for 22 years. He has served in numerous specialized positions with OHP through the years including Certified Bomb Technician as well as Commander of the Tactical Teams and Bomb Squad and liaison to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. Kerry was one of the first responders on the scene after the Oklahoma City Bombing and witnessed first hand the need for effective counter-terrorism measures. He is also a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy. Kerry was promoted to the rank of Major in September of 2003 and Governor Henry appointed him the Oklahoma Homeland Security Director in January of 2004.
