TURBINE TOURISTS Towering some 330 feet above their rocky limestone perches, the majestic wind turbines of the Blue Canyon Wind Farm near Lawton, Oklahoma, are among the features of an unusual new tourist attraction: a 1,200-mile driving loop in Oklahoma and Texas known as the American Wind Power Trail. A map and audio CD with descriptions of each site guide motorists. One of the most popular attractions has been the Blue Canyon turbines, which supply 74.25 megawatts of renewable energy to Western Farmers Electric Cooperative, a generation and transmission co-op in Anadarko, Okla.
