City of Oklahoma City | News from OKC.GOV The police department has taken numerous steps during this time to raise public awareness of the annual alarm permit, including sending 70,000 direct mailings to past alarm permit holders, using CityNews mailers in utility bills, posting information on the www.okc.gov and www.ocpd.com websites, and notifying metro alarm companies. ... The amended ordinance also addresses the significant problem of excessive false alarms. The Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma City Fire Department respond to a combined average of 100 false alarms on a daily basis. In the last 90 days, the police department responded to 6855 alarm calls that had no alarm permit. The ordinance defines excessive false alarms as being more than three in one year. The City formed a coalition with Oklahoma County, Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority, and Oklahoma City Housing Authority to offer cleanup loans for Brownfields properties in the Oklahoma City's Empowerment Zone and impoverished areas in Oklahoma County.
