Since 1913 the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) has benefited employers and employees by providing medical and compensation benefits for work-related injuries, diseases and deaths. BWC has a central office in Columbus and 21 customer service offices located statewide. BWC directly provides insurance to about two-thirds of Ohio's workforce. Workplace Safety - In 2000, Gov. Taft launched the Safety Works for Moms and Dads campaign which reinforced the cost a workplace injury has on the injured worker and their loved ones. Governor Taft’s SafetyGRANT$ program administered by the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) provided grants to Ohio employers for the research and prevention of cumulative trauma disorders, as well as defray the cost of educational training and materials for instituting BWC's Drug-Free Workplace Programs. Since 1999, BWC approved 663 SafetyGRANT$ totaling more than $19 million. Each year since Gov.
