Dr. Alan R. Schriber currently serves as chairman of the PUCO. He was appointed chairman by Gov. Bob Taft in 1999 and reappointed in 2004. Chairman Schriber also served as a PUCO commissioner from 1983-1989, appointed by former Gov. Richard F. Celeste. As chairman of the PUCO, Schriber is the head of a 400-person agency that works to oversee the regulation of electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water, and commercial transportation in the state of Ohio. Additionally, Schriber is the chairman of the Ohio Power Siting Board that reviews, evaluates, and approves the siting of electric generation plants and electric and natural gas transmission lines.
