Lewis and Clark in North Dakota - Credits Patrick Gass, one of the three sergeants with the Lewis and Clark expedition, was the first member of the corps of discovery to publish his journal. Between its first printing in Pittsburgh in 1807, and the publishing of the journals of Lewis and Clark in 1814, Gass's account was the only one available to curious American and European readers. Editions of Gass's journal were published in London in 1808, in France in 1810 and in Germany in 1814. Mathew Carey published three editions in Philadelphia in 1810, 1811, and 1812 accompanied by six woodcuts, the first graphic illustrations of incidents described in Gass's journal. Fargo, North Dakota : About Us The Red River Valley Agricultural Research Center consists of 6 units housed in 2 federal facilities in Fargo, ND and a federal worksite in E. Grand Forks, MN. The Animal Metabolism-Agricultural Chemicals, Insect Genetics & Biochemistry, and Plant Science Research Units form the Biosciences Research Laboratory. The Cereal Crops, Sugarbeet & Potato, and Sunflower Research Units form the Northern Crop Science Research Laboratory. The Wheat Quality Lab of the Cereal Crops Unit is housed in N. Dakota St. Univ. facilities. The Red River Valley Potato Research Worksite at E. Grand Forks is part of the Sugarbeet & Potato Research Unit.
