The United States filed our complaint against the property owner and former rental manager of an apartment complex in Manchester, New Hampshire, claiming that the defendants violated the Fair Housing Act by engaging in a pattern or practice of discrimination in housing based upon sex. This case began following a determination by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that reasonable cause existed to believe that the defendants had discriminated against a tenant on the basis of sex. Upon further investigation the United States discovered additional evidence of the rental agent's pervasive sexual harassment and sexual assaults against female tenants.
