As early as the late 1980s, Traci Dietz knew she wanted to start her own business. After a lengthy period of time in which she considered many different ideas, Dietz launched Mama’s Salsa. Dietz and her family had always enjoyed a particular recipe that she had adapted to suit her family’s tastes. She faced a variety of challenges in the beginning, such as learning how to design a UPC label and test the nutritional value of her salsa. With the help of University of Nebraska at Lincoln Food Processing Center and GROW Nebraska, Dietz was able to get her business up and running with four employees. Wyoming Retail Merchants & Society of American Florist ... The RegFair public hearing for Region VI, the Southern States, was held at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law. Due to the efforts of Wallace Caradine, the RegFair Board Member from Arkansas, the hearing was successful with 12 small business owners testifying. Representatives from Senator Lincoln’s office were in attendance. Ruben Guerrero, SBA Regional Administrator, was instrumental in encouraging the audience to fully participate and to take advantage of this opportunity to make known their concerns. NAWBO representatives testified on an ongoing issue with the DOL that this organization has raised at hearings over the last two years.
