The Cardiovascular Health Program's goal is to decrease the number of deaths due to cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke) in Nebraska. The program is progressing on the development of a comprehensive approach to cardiovascular disease, including primary and secondary prevention and its accompanying risk factors (poor nutrition, physical inactivity, tobacco use, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and obesity). Program activities are population-based strategies that focus on an identified population or area rather than on individual behavior change.
