Canyon Ferry Dam and lake are located in Montana about 50 miles downstream from where the Gallatin, Madison, and Jefferson Rivers join to form the Missouri River. This lake, with 35,181 surface acres and 76 shoreline miles, offers excellent fishing opportunity for rainbow trout, perch, ling, and walleye. Concrete boat ramps, campgrounds, day-use areas, shelters, swimming, and three marinas. The visitor center is currently closed to the public. Canyon Ferry Unit is part of the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program.The site is one of the best in the country for viewing large concentrations of Bald Eagles. The economy of the Lake Ozark-Rolla Region is generally outpacing the economy of Missouri as a whole. There has been a varied amount of economic growth in this region during the last ten years, with areas near the Lake of the Ozarks seeing good progress, while Pulaski County is struggling. The population growth since 1990 in the Lake Ozark-Rolla Region was 14.8%, compared to 9.1% for the state. The poverty rate for this area is 15.0%. This compares with 11.8% for the state as a whole. The unemployment rate during 2002 for the Lake Ozark-Rolla Region was 5.9%, higher than the state´s rate of 5.5%. This could be due to the many seasonal jobs sparked by the booming tourist industry in this region. The growth in personal income and per capita income in the Lake Ozark-Rolla Region over the past decade has matched the growth of the state as a whole.
