CAPT Fair was commissioned in the U.S. Public Health Service in 1986 after completing a master’s degree in public health and a master’s degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a native of Pembroke, North Carolina and a member of the Lumbee Indian Tribe. CAPT Fair began her career with the Indian Health Service in Phoenix, Arizona where she provided direct and consultative services to the Gila River Indian Community, and the Phoenix Indian Medical Center. During this assignment she was instrumental in establishing a community wide child protection team which focused on improving coordination and collaboration of child abuse and neglect cases. If Willy Loman was a figure in a poem, that is even more true of the pseudonymous character in Miller’s later play, Mr. Peters’ Connections , set in what the opening stage direction calls “A broken structure indicating an old abandoned night club in New York City.” But that stage direction is itself metaphoric, for it is not the setting alone that is a “broken structure.” It is, potentially, a life. Evelyn Gandy
Gandy's political career started early. She began making speeches for political candidates while she was just a high school student. As the only woman in her 1943 class at the University of Mississippi School of Law, she won the state oratorical contest. She was the first woman editor of the Mississippi Law Journal and the first woman to be elected president of the law school student body. After graduating, Gandy opened a law office in Hattiesburg and ran successfully for state representative in the Mississippi legislature. She was the first woman to hold that office. She supported progressive legislation, especially in education and human services, and co-authored a law establishing Mississippi's four-year medical school, as well as the state's first law providing financial assistance for the disabled. ...
