AFDC Financial Incentives
A state agency shall use clean fuels for use in motor vehicles owned or leased by the agency if the clean fuels are reasonably available at similar costs to other fuels and are compatible with the use to which the motor vehicle is put. Clean fuels are defined as biodiesel blends of 20% or greater by volume, compressed natural gas (CNG), ethanol blends of 70% ethanol or greater by volume, hydrogen, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Additionally, a state agency, when purchasing a motor vehicle for the central motor pool or for use by the agency, shall purchase a motor vehicle that is capable of being powered by clean fuels or a motor vehicle powered by electricity or by a combination of electricity and liquid fuel, if such a motor vehicle is reasonably available at similar costs to other vehicles and if the vehicle is capable of carrying out the purpose for which it is purchased.
