Michigan Newspaper Project (MNP)
The Michigan Newspaper Project (MNP) is one of 50 state-wide projects of the United States Newspaper Program that is supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress. MNP's purpose is to locate, catalog, and preserve Michigan's newspapers. Primary funding for the project is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Library of Congress provided technical support and training. Michigan's Project began in 1993 when the first grant was submitted to NEH by the Library of Michigan. The Library of Michigan was responsible for the inventory and cataloging phase and the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University together with the Library of Michigan are responsible for the microfilming phase. ...
