Campground Host Applications for 2005 are Being Accepted
State Park Campground Host  applications are available right here . Applications should be directed to the  park or recreation area where the Hosts want to volunteer.  State Parks generally offer modern camping with electrical hookups and shower building. Hosts are welcome to apply for a vacancy at more than one park, but a separate application should be completed for each park. Applications accepted year around until all vacancies are filled. Questions about the State Park Host Program can be addressed to Monica Terrell at 517-373-8232.   State Forest Campground applications are available right here.  Once completed, they should be mailed to the address on the form. State Forest Campgrounds generally are rustic facilities with vault toilets, but no electrical hookups or shower facilities. There are no State Forest campgrounds in southern Lower Peninsula. Transporting Firewood Harms Campground Forests
You can't move firewood if it violates the MDA quarantine.   More importantly, transporting firewood also moves damaging insects and diseases to other areas in the state which can damage forests and ecosystems. If you are in an MDA quarantine area, you can transport coniferous firewood such as pine, spruce or fir, but not any firewood from deciduous trees. Johnson’s Crossing Trail Camp, east of Gaylord via M-32, now will be operated only as a group campground. Group camps do not have defined sites. This allows friends and groups to camp together in close proximity to each other. The seven individual campsites that once were defined in this campground will be incorporated into the group camp area. Use of the group camp area is restricted to groups of 15 or more and requires advance registration with the local management unit.
