Beginning July 1, 2005, the sale or transfer of real property and associated personal property in Maryland by nonresidents will be subject to a new income withholding rate of 6 percent. The 6 percent amount is to be withheld from the total payment of the property sale or transfer and must be paid to the clerk of the circuit court for the county in which the property is located.
