       Paul Sarbanes was born in Salisbury, on Maryland's Eastern Shore on February 3, 1933. He was the son of Greek immigrants from Laconia, Greece -- Spyros (deceased 1957) and Matina Sarbanes (deceased 2001) who owned the Mayflower Restaurant on Salisbury’s Main Street. The principles Senator Sarbanes learned growing up in Salisbury that have guided his public life are opportunity and fairness -- principles that he strongly believes are fundamental to a decent and just society. Attended the public schools in Salisbury, Maryland, graduating in June 1950 from Wicomico Senior High School. In June 1960, married Christine Dunbar of Brighton, England, a graduate of St. Hugh's College, Oxford University; Lecturer in Classics at Goucher College, 1960-1973; and teacher at Gilman School, 1978 to 2000. The America Reads project at Salisbury State University provides fourteen tutors to two school districts and two out-of-school programs. Tutors meet once a month for training from our reading specialist and provide feedback about the challenges they face in the classroom. Our reading tutors work with children from grades K through 4. LAUREL ― Wilhelm Goebel of Salisbury took home top honors for the second time at the 31st Annual Maryland Migratory Game Bird Stamp Design Contest with his painting of a ruddy duck. His work was selected from a field of 36 entries by five qualified judges on Saturda y, at the Patuxent Wildlife Art Show at the Patuxent National Wildlife Visitor’s Center in Laurel. ...

In addition to his past success in the Federal Duck Stamp Competition, his most prestigious awards include Ducks Unlimited’s International Artist of the Year, the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Artist of the Year and Stamp Print Artist of the Year, and Maryland’s Grand National Waterfowl Association’s Artist of the Year.
