Eighteen teams of college and university students will compete in the Solar Decathlon. The students and their amazing work will take center stage on the National Mall in the nation's capital. Teams begin assembly of their "solar village" on the Mall on September 29, 2005. The event is open to the public October 7-16. The teams' houses are open for touring everyday except October 12, when they will close for competition purposes. An overall winner will be announced midday on October 15.
