The time-frame for this goal extends beyond the year 2010, unlike local-scale goals, because it is a trend analysis and will require at least three points in time before trends can be detected. This use of MBSS data in trend analyses will allow DNR to communicate to the public and the U.S. EPA how healthy Maryland’s streams are and where we need to focus more attention. The MBSS is currently in Round 2 of its statewide sampling efforts. By 2004, every 8-digit watershed in the state will have been evaluated at least once and given its baseline score.
