Sometimes you need a lawyer. Sometimes you need more information. And sometimes it’s hard to know what you need. When you call the Lawyer Referral and Information Service, our experienced staff will help you figure it out. ... our staff will refer you to an LRIS lawyer who practices in the substantive area of law you need, within geographical proximity, and appropriate to your situation. LRIS charges a $20 fee for this referral, which you can pay over the telephone by credit card, or by mailed invoice. We immediately inform the lawyer that you have been referred and that, if possible, an appointment should be scheduled within three business days. Your initial consultation may be by telephone or in person. By listing with our service, the attorney has agreed to charge you no fee for your first half-hour of consultation. During this half-hour, you and the attorney will discuss your case, and, if you decide to work together, come to an agreement about legal fees. If for some reason you decide not to hire this attorney, or the attorney cannot take your case, let us know and we will refer you to another attorney at no additional charge.
